3.4.  RS-232 / RS-422 Port (J206)  

Note that the RS-232C and RS-422 (factory option) ports may not be used 
simultaneously, as they are one physical port, converted to each interface by the 
appropriate line driver/receiver, as shown in Figure 3-11. Connecting the RS-232 port to 
a user’s PC requires only a standard 9-pin RS-232C interconnection cable (not a null 
modem). Currently, the RS-232C port serves only as a secondary means to upgrade the 
firmware in the Ndrive HL, which is done primarily through the FireWire port.
