Server Mgmt Screen

The SBC provides optional extended manageability through the implementation of
Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI).

The IPMI sub‐systems consists of an out‐of‐band controller called the Baseboard

Management Controller (BMC) that monitors the health of the system. Health
monitoring is accomplished by distributed sensors throughout the SBC feeding back
collected data to the BMC. If the BMC detects a fault condition, it can log an error to
the System Event Log (SEL). The event log can be monitored by a number of IPMI
software packages.

The IPMI sub‐system operates independently of the operating system and allows

administrators to manage the system remotely even if the SBC is powered down
(IPMI power provided).

Some Management features can be adjusted or monitored via Setup and described in
this chapter.

The System Event Log can be queried by IPMI‐compliant Open‐Source Utilit

ies such

as ipmitool and ipmievd.

See the Generation 12 SBC IPMI Cross Platform Specification for further IPMI
information.

NOTE

All values changed on the Server Mgmt Setup screen do not take effect until SBC is restarted.
