Operation of the Voice Mail functions
Depending on the terminal the Voice Mail functions are operated either using the
Foxkey or */# procedures and digit keys.
The mailbox owner can use the Foxkey to record, monitor, activate and deactivate
personal greetings on his system terminal. The personal greeting that is currently
active is indicated accordingly. If no personal greeting is active or available, the glo-
bal greeting is automatically activated, providing it has been provided by the ad-
ministrator. If no global greeting has been recorded, the system texts are played
back by the Audio Guide. (The Audio Guide is not available on the Basic Voice Mail
System.)
On analogue terminals, terminals on the S bus and system terminals without a dis-
play personal greetings are recorded, monitored and activated in a similar way but
using */# procedures (as described in
"Procedures for personal greetings",
).
Global greetings are always recorded, monitored and activated using */# proce-
dures (as described in
"Procedures for global greetings", page 381
).
Greeting texts can also be downloaded into the PBX file system as a wave file as an
alternative to recording messages via a terminal.
The procedure is the same as for the Courtesy announcements (see
ice (announcement prior to answering)", page 450
).

For a description of how to activate a mailbox, of how new voice mes-
sages are signalled, and how to listen to and delete voice messages,
please refer to the User’s Guide for "Ascotel® IntelliGate® Voice Mail Sys-
tems".
Note:
New voice messages can also be signalled via e-mail using an e-mail sys-
tem connected to OIP. The voice message can be sent as a link or wave
file. More detailed information can be found in the "Open Interfaces Plat-
form" System Manual.
