Path Assignment

After you create a packet filter, you can assign it to any combination of
the

transmit all

,

transmit multicast

,

receive all

,

receive

multicast

, and

receive internal

paths of each port. The filter

executes a series of operations on the packet’s contents and, if the result
is 0, it stops (filters) the packet. If the result is not 0, the filter allows the
packet to pass.

The packet processing paths are defined in Table 61.

All multicast (including broadcast) frames that are
transmitted to the segment connected to the port

by the port from the segment that is connected to the port

Receive Internal (rxI)

All frames received by the port that have a system internal
destination, such as ping and Telnet packets.
