The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)

 

provides a way for a 

Switch 4007 Layer 2 Switching Modules to forward IP multicast 
application traffic to certain ports and filter it on other ports to increase 
bandwidth efficiency in the network. This chapter provides an overview,
