Broadcast Storm Control
This chapter introduces and shows you how to configure the broadcast storm control feature.
7.1 Broadcast Storm Control Overview
Broadcast storm control limits the number of broadcast frames that can be stored in the
Prestige buffer or sent out from the Prestige. Broadcast frames that arrive when the buffer is
full are discarded. Enable this feature
to reduce broadcast traffic coming into your network.
7.2 Broadcast Storm Control Setup

The following table describes the labels in this screen.

Select this check box
to enable broadcast storm control on the Prestige. Clear this check
box to disable the feature.
Port
This field displays a port number.
Active
Select this check box
to enable broadcast storm control on the port. Clear this check box
to disable the feature.
Broadcast
Option
Select an option to limit the broadcast packets. Choices are

15000/1500(pps)
,
30000/3000(pps)
and
60000/6000(pps)
.
Select
Disable
to disable broadcast storm control.
Select
15000/1500(pps)
to allow up to 15000 pps (packet per second) for a 100 Mbps port
or 1500 pps for 10 Mbps port.
Select
30000/3000(pps)
to allow up to 30000 pps (packet per second) for a 100 Mbps port
or 3000 pps for 10 Mbps port.
Select
60000/6000(pps)
to allow up to 60000 pps (packet per second) for a 100 Mbps port
or 6000 pps for 10 Mbps port.
Rate
Specify how many packets a port receives per second.
