Application and Functions
On a model railway layout, there are many power consumers that are connected to the digital voltage
such as locomotives, turnouts, signals, lighting, etc. All these components must be supplied with energy.
From a certain size of the layout, the power of the track output of the control unit is no longer sufficient,
then amplifiers, also called "boosters", must be used. These again supply new track and control sections
with up to 6 A. If the RailCom option is activated (activated by default), the booster creates a so-called
RailCom gap (RailCom cutout), which allows the use of RailCom locomotive detectors or RailCom-sup
-
porting track occupancy detectors.
The
Z21 XL BOOSTER
was specially tuned to the Z21 XL Series product line and should only be used
for the large gauges 0 to 2/G.
Booster Location
Place the booster in a visible location with sufficient ventilation to dissipate the waste heat. The
Z21 XL
BOOSTER
should therefore not be placed near sources of heat such as radiators or places with direct
sunlight! This booster was developed exclusively for dry indoor areas. Therefore, do not operate the
Z21
XL BOOSTER
in environments with large fluctuation in temperature and humidity.
