Testing the indicator
4.
Press the GATE key. The characters [LEd] appear on the display.
5.
Turn the rotary knob to the right. Confirm that the lit position of the indicator
moves from the upper left to the lower right in order. The 7-segment LED and
decimal point are also lit one segment at a time. Turn the rotary to the left and
confirm that the lit position of the indicator moves from the lower right to the
upper left in order.
• Returning to the start condition in the maintenance mode.

Press the < key once. The characters [tEST] appear on the display and the
TA120E returns to the start condition in the maintenance mode.
Testing the meter
4.
Press the ARM key. The characters [MEtEr] appear on the display. Confirm
that the needle points slightly to the right of the center of the scale.
5.
Turn the rotary knob to the right. Confirm that the meter needle moves to the
right and goes off the scales beyond the maximum scale line. Turn the rotary
knob to the left and confirm that the needle moves to the left and points to the
zero position.
• Returning to the start condition in the maintenance mode.
6.
Press the < key once. The characters [tEST] appear on the display and the
TA120E returns to the start condition in the maintenance mode.
Testing the board

Press the INH key. After the test items [CPu
→
MEAS] are shown on the display,
[PASS] or [FAiL] is displayed.
If [PASS] is displayed, the board is operating normally. Proceed to step 9.
If [FAiL] is displayed, a problem has been detected. Proceed to step 5.

Turn the rotary knob to select [CPu].
6.
Press the > key. [PASS] or a hexadecimal value is displayed.
If [PASS] is displayed, the CPU board is operating normally.
If a hexadecimal value is displayed, a problem has been detected. Please note
the hexadecimal value that is displayed.
• Checking the measurement board
7.
Turn the rotary knob to select [MEAS].
8.
Press the > key. [PASS] or a hexadecimal value is displayed.
If [PASS] is displayed, the measurement board is operating normally.
If a hexadecimal value is displayed, a problem has been detected. Please note
the hexadecimal value that is displayed.
• Returning to the start condition in the maintenance mode.
9.
Press the < key once. The characters [tEST] appear on the display and the
TA120E returns to the start condition in the maintenance mode.
Note
When you wish to perform measurement again after the self-test, reboot the TA120E.
