LOWER UNIT LEAKAGE CHECK
1) Tighten the gear-oil-drain screw, and connect
the tester to the oil-level hole.
2) Pump the tester, and apply a specified pres-
sure.
Then place the gear case in the water tank.
3) Check that the pressure is held at specified
pressure for 10 seconds.
NOTE:
If the pressure falls, the leakage from lower unit is
unacceptable, requiring re-inspection of its compo-
nent parts.

INSTALLATION
1) Grease the spline of the drive-shaft and the
water-tube outer face, align the water-tube and
drive-shaft, install the lower unit and tighten the
bolts to the specified torque.
2) Shift in reverse.
3) Connect the shift-rod, and screw the nut on to
the shift-rod 3.5 – 5.0 mm (0.14 – 0.20 in), and
tighten the locknut.
4) Hook the hook. (reverse lock interlocked with
shifting)
5) Install the anode on the gear-case.
Be sure to align the marks put on both of them
when they were removed.
Lower unit mounting bolts:
38 Nm (3.8 m·kg, 27 ft·lb)
Specified pressure:
100 kPa, 15 PSI
