Note
The throughput rate when Media Optimization Switches is set to Large Stock will be consistent with
the rate of the largest stocks encountered. Therefore, for jobs containing a low percentage of larger
stocks make sure Media Optimization Switches is set to Normal. This allows the printer to re-adjust to
the higher print speed of smaller stock.
To enable Large Stock mode:
1. From the FreeFlow Print Server user interface, select Printer > Media Optimization.
The window containing Media Optimization Switches displays.
2. Select Large Stock and OK.
You are now running in Large Stock mode and the job will adjust print speed when encountering
larger stocks but not re-adjust for smaller stocks.
3. When you finish running jobs that include predominantly large stocks, make sure you clear Large
Stock mode by selecting Printer > Media Optimization and then selecting Normal from the Media
Optimization Switches dialog.
Optimizing productivity for jobs containing wide stocks measuring 9 - 9.5
process direction
Note
This feature is not available on printing systems that use the Basic Finishing Module (BFM) or MFF
finisher.
Select the Wide Stock feature (Wide Stocks Optimize Print Speed) to enable stock sizes up to 9.5 inches
(241 mm) wide to run at a higher throughput rate. Wide stock sizes of 9.1 inch (230mm) to 9.5 inch
(241mm) will print at the same speed as 9.0 inch paper.
When trying to select this mode for systems with the BFM, a fault status is raised which prevents the
printer from running. The Wide Stocks selection must be cleared to lower this fault. With the BFM, the
maximum rate is 192 ipm for these stock sizes.
To enable Wide Stocks mode:
1. From the FreeFlow Print Server user interface, select Printer > Media Optimization.
The window containing all selections displays. Wide Stocks is above the area containing Media
Optimization Switches.
2. Select Wide Stocks (9.0 - 9.5 process direction) Optimize Print Speed and OK.
You are now running in Wide Stocks mode which allows the printer to run these stock sizes at the
same print rate as 9.0 inch stock.
There is no need to clear the Wide Stocks selection unless problems are encountered running these
stock sizes. The Wide Stocks mode can be left on permanently.
Optimizing job recovery for jobs containing Serialized Stocks
You can print jobs using serialized stocks, such as checks or statements, and disable auto system job
recovery. The system will require more active operator intervention to manually insure proper job recovery
following system shutdowns. A message will indicate when this media optimization mode is enabled.
