5.5. Non-contact voltage detection
1. 1Set the rotary switch to
EF
position.
2.
Wait for the instrument to activate the test
mode, showing a dash on the left of the
display and for the acoustic alarm to emit a
steady and slow sound.
3.
Bring the non-contact voltage detection area
close to the object to be tested.
4.
As the intensity of the electric field increases,
the acoustic signal increases the intermittence
and the display shows an increasing quantity
of dashes.
The digital clamp meter has two sensitivity levels
for the non-contact voltage detection.
Briefly press
[SELECT]
to switch to low sensitivity;
the display shows
EF-L
.
Press
[SELECT]
again to return to
EF-H
sensitivity.

5.5.1. Single pole phase locator function
For a better identification of live cables, like for
example the identification of a phase conductor
compared with the neutral one, it is possible to
take advantage of the single pole phase locator
function.
1. Set the rotary switch to
EF
position.
2.
Insert the black test lead into the
COM
terminal.
3.
With the black test lead touch the pole to be
identified as a phase; in case the connection
is on a phase, the acoustic signal sounds
permanently.
4. In case the connection is on the neutral, the
acoustic signal does not sound and the display
shows
EF-L
.
In case a phase conductor is near the non-con-
tact detection sensor on the jaw, the display
shows the detection dashes and the acoustic
signal sounds intermittently as required by the
EF
function (details at chapter 5.5).
