2.1. Measurement categories
ATTENTION
A high measurement category identifies circuits closer to the
power supply source and therefore the possible presence of
transients with greater amplitude, which means that an instru-
ment designed for category III withstands a higher overvoltage
than the instrument designed for category II. Using an instrument
in an environment classified with an overvoltage/measurement
category higher than the measurement category of the instru-
ment itself, can be dangerous.
