ACHINE
A powered infeed conveyor belt is the preferred method of feeding cases into the BEL 270 although gravity or
manual feed may also be used. Note that cases must enter level with the BEL 270 conveyor and not be tipped
forward or backward or there will be problems with top flap folding and sealing. For powered infeed conveyors a
speed of 60 ft./min. or less is recommended.
NOTE: The in-feed conveyor speed MUST be less than the BEL 270 standard conveyor
speed of 85 ft./min. A recommended speed is 60 ft./min. or less.

The BEL 270 is equipped with a timed automatic stop gate, which separates or indexes cases as they enter into the
machine. The standard indexing gate is mounted inside the machine frame and operates in a normally down or
open position so that the first case in a sequence moves directly into the machine. The logic can be changed so
that the gate is normally up or closed which aids in squaring the case, if necessary, before it enters the drive belts.
The timing of the gate is controlled by a timer in the main controls enclosure. Stop gate actuation is usually set to
be 3 to 5 sec. It must be set at least 0.5 sec. longer than the
Snap Folder
(return) dwell time.
An optional external indexing gate that mounts on the front of the machine frame can be used for longer cases that
will bridge the gap between in-feed and machine conveyors and which must be used in place of the standard
internal stop gate with the machine over-length case modification. The externally mounted indexing gate is also
wider giving it better ability to square cases that may be skewed before they enter the case sealer.
