2.3. WEST HARDWARE SETUP
CAUTION
Extended operation with altered system variables may reduce the
life of system components. Limit troubleshooting time with
variables altered.
CAUTION
Only have the WEST hardware connected while the vehicle is
being serviced by trained personnel.
CAUTION
Never allow the service harness to be severed by the door or
damaged in any way. If the insulation on the harness is crushed or
damaged, replace the harness immediately. A short inside this
harness may result in the vehicle shutting off unexpectedly.
CAUTION
If the CAN to USB converter enclosure becomes damaged,
exposing the electronics, replace the CANUSB Dongle
immediately.
CAUTION
If at any point WEST loses communication with the computer
due to the USB cable being disconnected, WEST will prompt a
message. The message informs the user that the USB cable has
been disconnected and the user will need to reconnect it and
restart WEST (Fig. 2.10).
