17. Start the mobile phase, examine the assembled components for leaks, and then tighten the
fittings, if necessary.
18. Close the column compartment door and ensure that the door is clasped shut.
3.9 Replacing the APH retainer clip
If you have a legacy APH installed in your system and you ordered a new APH assembly, you
may need to replace the retainer clip. If your retainer clip looks like the old retainer clip below,
then you will need to replace it.
Required tools and materials
• Needle-nose pliers
• New APH retainer clip
To replace the APH retainer clip
1.
Using needle-nose pliers, gently compress the top and bottom sides of the old APH
retainer clip and withdraw it from the control port.

Gently compress the retainer at these locations to remove it from the control port.
2.
Set aside the old APH retainer clip for discarding.
3.
Press the top and bottom sides of the new APH retainer clip and push it into the control
port.
