Changing the return filter element
The hydraulic system is equipped with a return filter Item 2
(Fig. 86). It is connected to an indicator light. An installed
bypass valve secures the return valve against positive pres-
sure.
ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE
Let the pressure from the hydraulic fluid reservoir
escape by opening the hydraulic fluid filler neck
cap Item 1 (Fig. 83) before you unscrew the cover
of the filter housing Item a (Fig. 87). Otherwise,
hydraulic fluid will be forced out of the filter housing
and could get into the environment.
Dispose of the old filter element and any leaking
hydraulic fluid in an ecologically sound manner.
Replace the filter element of the return filter Item
b. (Fig. 87) during inspections or if the indicator
light for the return filter on the instrument panel is
illuminated between inspection intervals.
After installing a new filter element, the indicator
light on the instrument panel should no longer be
illuminated.
Replace the filter element in a timely manner, as
the filter‘s effect is overridden when the bypass
valve is open.
