Repair - lower gear housing, sailboat drive

Vertical shaft,
disassembly

14.

Remove the roller bearings with a knife extractor

as counterhold. Use a hydraulic press together with a
suitable mandrel.

15.

Remove the ferrule (

). Use a knife puller as a

counterhold.

NOTE

! The ferrule must always be changed when the

shaft has been removed or when the pinion has been
changed.

16.

The ground needle roller bearing race on the verti-

cal shaft should not be changed. If the roller bearing is
damaged, the entire shaft must be changed.

Then clean all components. Change worn or damaged
components.
