Drive Belt
Adjust Drive Belt Tension
Care should be taken to be sure the motorcycle will not tip or fall while elevated. Severe personal
injury or death may occur if the motorcycle tips or falls.

Before adjusting drive belt tension, inspect wheel align-
ment. (See Align Rear Wheel, page 93).
1. Loosen the rear axle nut (A) on the left end of the rear axle.
2. On screw style adjusters (top photo at right) loosen lock nut (C) on
both the left and right axle adjusters.
3. Turn left and right side axle adjuster screw or nut (B) clockwise (as
viewed from behind the motorcycle) an equal amount or as needed to
align wheel and achieve proper tension (see Check Drive Belt Tension,
page 90).
4. When alignment and belt tension is correct, tighten the rear axle nut
and tighten lock nuts (C) securely (on screw style adjusters).
Torque: 65 ft-lbs (88 Nm)
5. Recheck drive belt tension.
6. Pump rear brake pedal several times to reset brake pad distance.
7. Slowly rotate wheel. If wheel does not rotate smoothly, inspect the
wheel bearings, axle, and brakes (see the VICTORY Service Manual
or an authorized VICTORY dealer).
