“Use fixed IP address”-
The default status is “Get IP
address automatically.” Once the network settings, especially the IP address, have been entered
correctly, select “Use fixed IP address”. The camera supports both DHCP and static IP addresses;
Vicon recommends a fixed IP address for easier manageability. The camera can automatically restart
and operate normally after a power outage. Users can run the IP Wizard (provided on CD; see
Appendix B) to check the IP address assigned to the camera if the IP address is forgotten or use
the UPnP function provided by the camera (MS Windows XP provides UPnP function at My Network
Place).

This is used to determine if the destination is in the same subnet. The default
value is “255.255.255.0”.

An invalid router setting will cause the failure of the transmission to destinations in different subnet.
Vicon recommends using 254 as the last octet.

“Secondary DNS”
- Secondary domain name server that backups the Primary DNS*.

name and IP address*.
