IPMI and discovery settings
An administrator can automatically enable the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) on the appliance during
discovery or when manually adding an SP. Use the following instructions to enable IPMI and set your preferences when
discovering target devices.

1.
From the sidebar of the Administration tab, click
Targets - Discovery
and then click the
Settings
tab.
2.
Check the box to automatically enable IPMI on SPs during discovery or manual add.
3.
Check the box to always update the default alias whenever a target is re-discovered.
4. Select either IP address or hostname as the default alias name preference. If using hostname, you can check the
box to ensure the DNS server is not queried for SPs.
NOTE: Querying the hostname may increase the discovery time.
5.
Check the appropriate box to automatically manage discovered PDUs, SPs and Terminal Servers.
NOTE: If you do not configure the appliance to automatically discover PDUs, SPs and Terminal Servers, these devices
will appear, along with unsupported devices, under the Targets tab in the sidebar under Accessible Targets.
