3. EtherCAT slave information (ESI) file
Download the
ESI-file
(EtherCAT slave information) for your PLC EtherCAT master at
www.vatvalve.com
> Select
your country > Service > Downloads.
Upload the ESI-file to your PLC EtherCAT master. The ESI -file specifies the characteristics of the valve, and is
used for the EtherCAT master.
Attention:
If a new VAT ESI-File is necessary please always delete the old one in the corresponding EtherCAT directory. The
VAT ESI-Files are always downwardly compatible!
4. EtherCAT station alias address (optional)
The «station alias address» is used for the optional EtherCAT fixed device addressing. The most common device
addressing is to assign each slave an address from the EtherCAT network.
The «station alias address» can be configured by ‘Control View’, ‘Control Performance Analyzer’, ‘Universal Hyper
Terminal or by the ‘EtherCAT master tool’ (see below).
4.1 Configuration via VAT tool
The
«set-command»
is:
«s:25xxxxx000»
. The xxxxx value is the «station alias address». Valid range is 00000 to 65535.
Station alias address “0” is the out of the box value and indicates that the device has yet to be configured. If used, set the
s
tation alias address always to values unequal “0” because it is the out of the box valve of all EtherCAT slave devices.
The
«get-command»
is:
«i:25»
. The answer returns the station alias address
«i:25xxxxx000». The xxxxx value is the
current «station alias address».
Consider that the controller must be in local mode to accept the commands!
After a «s:25» command is sent the internal EtherCAT module is reseted and starts up again. Therefore do not enter any
other configuration command during the next 2 seconds.
«c:0100»
change into local mode
«c:0101»
change into remote mode
Example «get-command» with Terminal:
