more than 6 mm, tire cuts, which bare its cord, etc.) from the hub without complete
deflating of the tire; besides that, make sure that the tire has been completely de-
flated before you start to dismantle the tire from the rim;
- do not mount the cross-ply tires together with the radial ones on the ve-
hicle; tires of different size, models and load-carrying capacity are not allowable;
- do not use sledge hammers, pinch bars, faulty installation tools and the
tools, which are not provided by technical documentation, and can deform or cause
mechanical damages of wheel components, cuts and breaks of the tire casing beads,
injuries of the inner tube and flap;
- do not mount the tire onto the rim that does not conform to these tire sizes;
- do not use the bead and lock rings from a different type of wheel, because
they can have different design dimensions (regarding diameter and profile), even
with the same model of trucks, which have been produced on different dates and
have got different design of their wheels;
- do not set additional bead rings onto the rim to reduce its width;
- do not use the rims, bead and lock rings, which are noncircular and have
damaged surfaces, local dents, cracks as well as mud, rust and excess paint;
- do not use the tires, which have maximum wear of their tread pattern (re-
sidual depth of protrusions less than 1 mm) or tires with ply separation of the tire
carcass, peeling of the tread pattern or sidewall, non-repaired local damages, cuts
or breaks, which reach the cord, and through punctures or injuries of the metal bead
rings of the tire casings;
- do not allow to mount the tire casings, which have excess rubber, pressed-
out rubber and flashes on the edge, scores and damages, which obstruct mounting;
- when mounting or dismantling tires, do not apply rough force to tire irons;
the force applied should not result in their sliding off or break of tire iron ends;
- first, make sure that the lock ring occupies its proper position in the rim
base groove, which corresponds to the inflated wheel, and then inflate the tire;
- do not inflate the tire outside a special protection enclosure, and the tire to
be inflated should not be mounted on the truck; in the field use the safety devices,
which prevent ejection of parts, if spontaneous dismantling or wheel break occurs;
- do not inflate the tires from the bottles with compressed air or gas as it will
cause tire destruction and injure the people, who stand nearby.
Remember that the operations performed properly, when dismantling and
mounting the tire, ensure safety and reduces the labour consumption, when doing
the job, allow to extend the service life of the tires, wheels and installation tools.
Inflate the tire
from the compressor, it is recommended to mount
the tire horizontally.
Align the lock and bead rings if necessary. Inflate the tire up to pres-
sure of 0.05-0.1 MPa (0.5-1 kgf/sq.cm) and check the position of the lock
ring: if the lock ring has been set incorrectly, it is required to let the air out of the
tire, correct the ring position and repeat the procedure.
Examine the tire – blisters and deformations are not allowable.
Inflate the tire up to pressure which allows tire beads on the seats
(0.45-0.50 MPa (4.5-5.0 kgf/sq.cm ) and then set the required pressure.
If tire beads do not seat tight, upon air inflating, it is required to let the air out
of the tire, dismantle it and eliminate the reason that has caused the loose seating of
the tire beads; after that re
-
mount the tire onto the rim, inflate it and check, how
tight the bead seating is.
