Instruments, tools,
fixtures and materials
needed
- service brake sys-
tem
Check serviceability of
pilot lamps 3 and 4 (see Fig.
13) by pressing button 6. The
pilot lamps should light up.
Replace the bulbs in
pilot lamps, if need be.
The hydraulic and air
systems should be tight.
Depress and hold the brake
pedal for 1-2 min. Should
after this period pilot lamp 12
light up, it signifies the
failure of the inner collar
in the brake master cylin-
der. In this case replace the
collar. There must be no
visible pointer movement of
the two-pointer pressure
gauge.
If otherwise, or if pilot
lamp 4 lights up on the
dashboard in case of bad air
leakage, eliminate fault in
the air part of the drive.

The brake shoes being
fully pressed to the drum, the
brake pawl should position
on 4-12

teeth of the seg-

Check the towing
unit for good condition
(when operating the
truck with trailer)
The towing hook nut
should be locked, and the
hook catch cottered
By visual inspection
Check the tires for
good condition and the
wheels for proper fas-
tening
Tires should be free
from injuries and should not
bear any foreign objects in
the thread. Wheel nuts
should be tight
By visual inspection.
Tight up the wheel nuts, if
need be
Inspect fixing of the
fifth wheel and sub-frame
of the bolster trucks
Fasteners of the fifth
wheel and sub-frame should
be tight
Servicing After Trip
Wash the truck
and clean the driver’s cab
and platform bed
Manual washing using
a hose, brushes, wiping
material
In winter fill the
fuel tank completely to
avoid moisture condensa-
tion in it
