7.3
Connecting the camera
The camera can be connected to a computer in two different ways: as a mass
storage device and as a PC camera for videoconferencing on the Internet.
7.3.1
Connecting as a mass storage device
This option makes it possible to download photographs and video clips onto your
computer.
1.
Turn the camera on by sliding the ON/OFF button (2, figure 1) open.
2.
Set the multiselect button to the PC position. The ‘PC Connection’ menu will
appear.
3.
Select the ‘Mass storage’ option using the up arrow button (7, figure 2).
4.
Confirm this selection by pressing the menu button’s middle button (6, figure
2).
5.
A symbol of a USB plug will appear on the camera’s LCD screen.
6.
Pull open the flap and connect the USB cable to the USB connection behind
the flap (8, figure 1).
7.
Connect the other end to your computer.
8.
Windows will automatically detect the camera. Follow the on-screen
instructions to complete the installation.
7.3.2
Connecting as a PC camera
When you connect the camera as a PC camera, you can use the camera as a
webcam for videoconferencing on the Internet using, for example, Windows
NetMeeting or Windows Messenger.
1.
Turn the camera on by sliding the ON/OFF button (2, figure 1) open.
2.
Set the multiselect button to the PC position. The ‘PC Connection’ menu will
appear.
3.
Select the ‘PC Camera’ option using the up arrow button (7, figure 2).
4.
Confirm this selection by pressing the menu button’s middle button (6, figure
2).
5.
A symbol of a USB plug will appear on the camera’s LCD screen.
6.
