When executing the commands in the sequence, no acknowledges or
END
responses for those
commands are sent to the computer. The only responses are the acknowledge of starting the
execution (
BGN
) and the
END
response (
BGN END uc_status
) when the sequence has
completed. For the purpose of monitoring the connection status the computer may use the
TEM
command to set up a periodic
TEM
response from the instrument.
7.1.11.3 Eak -error Acknowledge
This command must be used to clear an error status from the instrument. Warnings don’t need to be
cleared. When the instrument detects an error, it reports it in the response of the current command.
After that it does not respond to other commands before receiving EAK, which clears the error con-
dition. The only exceptions are the version query VER and Abort. The instrument always responds
to these commands.

CODE DESCRIPTION
1 The command was not recognized as a valid KF96 command.
2 The magnetic head position is in error.
3 The turntable position is in error.
4 Magnetic tips lift position is in error.
5 Heater lift position is in error.
6 The drop shield position is in error.
7 Attempt to set the serial number when it already is set.
8 Invalid command argument.
9 Non volatile parameters lost.
10 Attempt to set the IEEE address when it already is set.
11 Internal software error. This error is actually never reported because the
firmware halts upon detecting an internal error. However, this error may
show up in the error log.
12 Cannot perform the requested movement. For example, the head and the
magnets cannot move down when the drop shield is in place, or the
turntable cannot rotate when the heater is up.
13 No plastic tips attached to the head. The range of movement of the head
and the magnets is limited if the tips are not attached to the head. This is to
prevent bringing the magnets in direct contact with the magnetic particle
solution.
14 The magnets are missing. The range of movement of the head and the
magnets is limited if the magnets are not attached to the magnet lift. This is
to prevent running a purification sequence without the magnets.
15 The command is not recordable. This error is reported if a non recordable
command is received when recording is on.
16 Not enough memory available for operation. E.g. maximum exceeded in
recording.
