Installation

Installing the Standard Analytical Flow Cell

b. Using the 1/8 in. ball-end hex screwdriver (supplied), secure the cover by tightening 

the flow cell cover retaining screw (see 

Figure 25

). 

9. Close the front doors of the detector.

10. Before you start the pump flow, ensure that the outlet tubing drains to the waste 

container.

Installing the Standard Analytical Flow Cell

You can order a standard 1 cm analytical flow cell from Thermo Fisher Scientific. The wetted 
volume of the standard analytical flow cell is 15 μL.

To install the standard analytical flow cell

1. Turn the detector off and unplug the power cord from line power.

 

2. Do one of the following:

a. If the LightPipe flow cell is not installed, go to 

step 3

.

b. If the LightPipe flow cell is installed, remove it as described in 

“Removing the 

LightPipe Flow Cell” 

on 

page 42

 and store it as described in 

“Storing the LightPipe 

Flow Cell” 

on 

page 45

. Then go to 

step 4

.

3. Open the flow cell compartment and remove the LightPipe flow cell retaining block as 

described in 

step 1

 through 

step 4

 in 

“Mounting the LightPipe Flow Cell” 

on 

page 16

. 

4. Remove the LightPipe flow cell mounting assembly as follows:

a. Unscrew the tubing clamp thumbscrew (see 

Figure 26

) and set the tubing clamp 

aside.

CAUTION  

To prevent possible exposure to UV light, turn the detector off and unplug 

the power cord from the power receptacle on the back panel.
