lifting the cover.

remove it from the sample compartment, and close the cover. 

If the spectrometer purged, allow 1 minute for the purge to reach 
equilibrium before going to the next step. If you find that carbon 
dioxide and water vapor interfere with spectra you collect in the 
future, wait 3 to 5 minutes.
