2.  Power off the computer, disconnect it from the AC power 

source, and then remove any add-in cards required for the 
spectrometer and accessories.  These may include: 

-

 

video acquisition (for microscopy) 

-

 

USB 2.0 (for communications and data) 

-

 

serial port (for liquid analysis and microscopy) 

-

 

parallel port (for printers) 

If you are unfamiliar with the procedures for adding and 
removing cards from the computer, see the documentation that 
accompanied the computer. 

 

3.  Power on thecomputer and, if necessary, install the operating 

system. 
 

4.  Install the spectroscopy software. 

 

Important

 

For many video capture (and other add-on cards) the drivers and 
software must be installed before the hardware.  
 
Read and follow the installation instructions that accompany the 
card(s). Incorrectly installed software, hardware, and drivers can 
render the computer inoperable.

In many cases, the installation instructions are included on a 
compact disc that was shipped with the card. Adobe® Acrobat® 
Reader software frequently is required to view and print the 
documentation. If the instructions are provided in electronic form, 
we recommend that you print a copy. You will be powering off and 
restarting the computer during the remainder of this procedure. 
Having a paper copy of all the manuals will simplify the installation. 

 

Pay attention to any Display or other Control Panel setting 
requirements.
