Asterisk – Rebooting and Accessing
Normally, a PBX should never need to be rebooted. But we all know that computers simply need to be rebooted from time to
time. There are multiple theories about right and wrong ways to reboot a machine, so we thought we’d talk about it.
If you have an Asterisk PBX built by Announcement Technologies, this note applies to you. PBX’s built by other vendors will
not work exactly this way:
1.
Asterisk should always be shutdown gracefully using the following method:
a.
Open a terminal window.
b.
At the command prompt type:
shutdown -h now
c.
Asterisk will halt and power off.
2.
To start Asterisk from a power off condition, press the power button inside the front door.
3.
After Asterisk has booted the screen will show the Linux login. (Asterisk will process calls whether logged in or not)
To log in:
a.
User name is:
root
b.
Password is:
telos7225
4.
Once logged into Linux, the screen will be at the Linux command line prompt. To start the X Window System (Linux
version of Windows) simply type:
startx
5.
The Asterisk GUI has a user and password (which is memorized in Firefox).
a.
User:
wwwadmin
b.
Password:
telos7225
Changing Power Supplies
The VX Enterprise and VX Prime Plus come with two 400Watt redundant power supplies. The supplies are auto auto-
switching capable. This enables it to automatically sense and operate at a 100VAC to 240VAC input voltage. An amber light
will be illuminated on the power supply when the power is off. An illuminated green light indicates that the power supply is
operating.
