Cleaning and
Maintenance
The printer requires periodic cleaning to keep it in peak operating condition. Some
cleaning procedures, such as purging the ink-jets are done automatically when
necessary. Other procedures, such as scrubbing the paper-feed rollers with an alcohol-
soaked cloth, must be done by customers.
The printer should be cleaned when any of the following symptoms occur:
■
Light stripes or missing colors appear in prints.
■
Ink smears or random streaks appear on the front or back of prints.
■
Oily spots appear along the top of prints.
■
Mispicks or multiple picks occur at the media tray.
■
Persistent paper jams inside the printer or at the media tray.
■
Wiggly vertical stripes caused by too much oil created by a dirty
maintenance drawer blade.
Most print-quality and media-transport problems can be cured by initiating cleaning
procedures available through the printer’s front panel menu.
