Appendix F: Con fi guring two Tektronix 70000 series
oscilloscopes
OUI Version 1.5 supports a new con fi guration where two Tektronix 70000-series
C- or D-model oscilloscopes are both connected to an OM4000. In this case, the
Scope Service Utility (SSU) is installed and run on both oscilloscopes. The OUI
connects independently to the two oscilloscopes using the Scope Service Utility
running on each oscilloscope.
You can connect one receiver polarization to each oscilloscope. However, with
the recommended hardware con
fi guration shown below, it is possible to use
the SkewControl function to remove inter-scope jitter. Turning the bottom
oscilloscope upside down will shorten the cable length and reduce corresponding
cable loss between oscilloscope two and the OM4000.
When connected as shown below, both oscilloscopes will trigger on Channel 4
from the sharpened Fast Edge provided by the Sync Board.
