Windows XP Product Activation
Every Windows XP operating system must be activated after installation to
ensure that you are a legal owner of the software. For the activation, you
have to submit the Product Key of your Windows XP software to Microsoft,
either via the Internet or by phone.
The Product Key can be found on the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity
(COA), which is stuck to the casing of the PC.
The Windows XP operating system has already been installed and activated
on your NetTop PC by the manufacturer. After the purchase of your NetTop
PC, activation is therefore not necessary.
Only after a new installation of the operating system or after changes to the
PC hardware will you be asked to activate the product. The procedure is de-
scribed in the activation window.
Licence Conditions – Licence Contract
The licence conditions of software serve as an explanation of the ways in
which you are entitled to use the software. This already touches on a signifi-
cant difference in the understanding of customer/user and manufacturer.
While the customer/user thinks he has bought the software and thus owns it,
the manufacturer of the software only sells/offers its customers a “limited”
usage right under specific circumstances. Ordinarily, the software may only
be used in connection with the purchased system. In addition, usage may be
limited for commercial use. Under certain circumstances, the software may
not be used to control machines or for the development of weapons. The
conditions also contain limitations with respect to the liability of the manufac-
turer.
If you do not fully agree with the licence contract, then according to the
manufacturer you are not entitled to use the respective software. Under cer-
tain circumstances, individual clauses in the licence contract may be ques-
tionable from a legal standpoint. This may mean that these items are invalid
and are then no longer binding on you. If you do not agree to the licence
contract, you may be entitled to return the software.
Please note that this right to return the software is on the part of the manu-
facturer of the software, not on the part of the manufacturer of the PC. In this
case you should turn to the manufacturer of the software to make use of
your right to return the software. Since your system was offered at a pack-
age price, a price evaluation of individual components and software compo-
nents is not a part of the offer. Comparison prices can thus consciously not
be determined and because of this the difference can also not be reim-
bursed.
