Choosing
a Location
Because of the sensitivity of TMA experiments,
it is important to choose a location for the
instrument using the following guidelines:
In . . .
a temperature-controlled area.

a clean environment.

an area with ample working and
ventilation space around the instru-
ment. (Refer to the technical speci-
fications in Chapter 1 for the instru-
ment’s dimensions.)
On . . .
a stable, vibration-free work surface.
Near . . . a power outlet (115 Vac, 50 or 60 Hz,
10 amps). A step up/down line trans-
former may be required if the unit is
operated from a higher or lower line
voltage.

your TA Instruments thermal analysis
controller.

sources of compressed lab air and
purge gas supply for use during
cooling and subambient experiments.

exposure to direct sunlight.
