5.13 Daily Generator
Flush Cycle
The generator flush cycle is automatic and occurs as scheduled by
the sterilizer operator using the procedure in

The flush cycle includes the following phases: depressurize, drain,
flush and complete. Heater elements are OFF during the flush cycle.
Screen shots below are for a flush cycle set to five-minute duration.
Sterilizer chamber temperature and pressure are displayed, but
values for the generator are not.
1. Depressurize – The generator exhausts steam through the
jacket and operating end door seal, if door is closed. The
generator cools and depressurizes until a one-minute timer
appears on the status bar, signaling conditions for a
depressurize phase have been met.
The approximate projected cycle completion time for the
depressurize phase is 15 minutes plus five minutes for flush and
14 seconds for drain to open (approximate total time 20 minutes,
14 seconds). Actual time required for this phase may vary. More
time is required if the operator end door is left open.
NOTE: Depressurize phase is skipped completely if the pressure
in the generator is less than 1 psig and the jacket temperature is
below 212°F (100°C).
