6.6 Initial System Configuration
To make the system fully functional, the configuration parameters need
to be set to the required values in the Service Setup menus, see “Sys-
tem Configuration” on page 7-1 for details.
Additionally, the applicable standard operational settings should be
entered in the Manual Settings menu.
If a magnetic compass heading source is connected to the NAVIGAT 100
system, the magnetic compass calibration procedure should be carried
out during a sea trial, as described under ”Magnetic Compass Calibra-
tion” on page 6-14.
Configuration of the System
1.
If not yet installed, the gyrosphere must now be installed:
See ”Gyrosphere Installation” on page 6-7 for details.
2. Connect the baseplate cable to the appropriate connector on the
NAVIGAT 100 mainboard with regards to the respective Gyrosphere
Container in operation:
–
J3 GYRO ANALOGUE for Gyrosphere Container Mod. 10/3
–
J4 J4 GYRO DIGITAL for Gyrosphere Container Mod. 10/4
3. In case the NAVIGAT 100 shall be operated with the Gyrosphere Con-
tainer Mod. 10/4, make sure:
–
that the NAVIGAT 100 and other CompassNet members are
updated to the appropriate software version 1.110, and
–
that the jumper settings at the Gyrosphere Container Mod. 10/4
are set to
„Navigate“: Jumpers to the RIGHT.
4. Apply the appropriate DIP-Switch S3 directly on the NAVIGAT 100
mainboard for the usage of the respective Gyrosphere Container
model (mod. 10/3 or mod. 10/4).
5. Make sure that the power cable and wiring to the NAVIGAT 100 has
been carried out completely. All devices connected to data or signal
in- and outputs should be operative.
6. Energize the system at the vessel's switch and fuse unit.
Upon power-up, a start-up routine is executed, for details see
“Power-up” on page 2-5.
DANGER
Life danger through electrical shock
When the compass is energized, the gyrosphere operating voltage of
100 VAC @ 333 Hz is present on the NAVIGAT 100 mainboard, the gyro-
sphere supply lines and across the gyrosphere contacts.
Be extremely careful when operating the compass while the housing is
open. Do not touch the NAVIGAT 100 mainboard, the connecting cables
to the gyrosphere container or any other conductive components on the
container or in the compass housing.
Always exclude any contact to energized components.
