Chapter 3. Installing the Library
22
Unpacking the Library
Before you begin, clear a work surface to use while you unpack and set up the library.
If you are going to rack mount the library, select an open 2U rack location allowing
easy access to the host server and the power outlet.
Caution:
If the temperature in the room where the library will be installed
varies by 30º F (15º C) from the room where the library was
stored, allow the library to acclimate to the environment for at
least 12 hours before unpacking it from the shipping container.
Before opening the shipping container, inspect the container for damage. If you notice
any damage, report it to the shipping company immediately.
To unpack the library:
1.
Open the shipping container.
2.
Remove the two rack rails and set them aside.
3.
Remove the shipping materials from the top of the library.
4.
Remove the accessory package and confirm that you received a minimum of the
following:
• One SCSI cable
• One power cable
• Two rack mount rails
• One accessory package
• One LAN cable
• One SCSI dual mode terminator
• Two bags of eight M6 screws for rack mounting
• The library’s user guide (this guide)
Additional items may be included, depending on the configuration purchased.
5.
Lift the library out of the carton and remove the bag from the library.
Caution:
Set the library down on its feet. Do not place the library on its
side or on either end; this could damage the library.
6.
Remove the foam cushion from the back of the library.
7.
Save the packaging materials for future use.
