Glossary
A
administrator
A type of user who is allowed to control all aspects of the
RXT-150, including all configuration and security
functions.
auto firmware
Auto firmware automatically protects data from firmware
mismatches that may prevent the RXT-150 from reading
data on a RXT media pack. As with any removable media,
there is a risk over time that the data format stored on the
media cannot be read by a drive with down-level
firmware. Auto Firmware helps users quickly install drive
firmware that will let the drive read data on the media.
When a RXT-150 stores data on a RXT media pack for the
first time, the drive also puts an Auto Firmware file on the
pack. Subsequently, whenever RXT media is loaded into a
RXT-150, the RXT-150 checks to make sure it can read data
on the pack. If the drive can’t read the data, a message
notifies the user to update the RXT-150 to the level of Auto
Firmware on the pack. This is easily accomplished using
the Web interface and the pack’s Auto Firmware.
B
bus
A collection of wires through which data is transmitted
from one part of a computer to another (or from one
device to another).
D
DHCP
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. A protocol for
assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network.
With dynamic addressing, a device can have a different IP
address every time it connects to the network. In some
systems, the device’s IP address can even change while it
is still connected. DHCP also supports a mix of static and
dynamic IP addresses.
