Chapter 2. Initial Configuration

Connecting to the Host
1.
Use a SCSI cable to connect the RXT-150 to the host.
RXT Drives provide an Ultra320 SCSI interface, and should work with any
system that supports that connectivity method. Spectra Logic has tested HBAs
for compatibility with RXT-150; that compatibility matrix is posted on the
Spectra Logic Web site at www.spectralogic.com.
Use either the top or bottom SCSI port on the RXT-150, making sure that the
other port is either terminated or daisy-chained to another device.
2.
Set the RXT-150’s SCSI ID using the switch on the rear panel just above the SCSI
ports. The SCSI ID is set by default to 15.
The current ID displays in the indicator window (Figure 2-4). Use an object with
a small pointed tip (such as a stylus or a pen) to press the plus (+) on the top or
the minus (-) at the bottom to set the SCSI ID.
Note:
Make sure that the SCSI ID setting is unique to avoid conflict on
the SCSI bus.
3.
Turn on the RXT-150.
4.
Turn on the host.
Note:
The serial cable
should not be
plugged in when
you turn on the
host.
5.
Make sure that the
RXT-150 is visible to
the host—it appears to
the host as an IBM
Ultrium-TD2 (LTO-2)
tape drive.
