6.2.2 Washing with CIP system
If the pump has been included in an installation using CIP system
washing/sanitization, the chemical solutions and cycles can normally also be
used for the rotary pump.
You should proceed as follows for CIP washing:
a) Rotary pump with fixed cover
Remove rotaries from pump and re-assemble the cover before
proceeding with CIP washing operations.
Wash the rotors separately operating as described in 6.2.1.
At the end of CIP operations make sure the shaft gaskets are housed
correctly before re-assembling the rotors.
Replace cover gaskets before cover re-assembly.
b) Rotary pump with vented cover
Disconnect compressed air supply to the vented cover before CIP
washing operations.
Every now and again start up the pump for a few seconds while
washing, but ONLY when the temperature is less then 57°C.
DANGER!
During washing phase
THE PUMP CAN’T NEVER WORK WHEN THE
TEMPERATURES ARE UP TO 57°C !!!
The unsuccessful respect of this recommendation can cause heavy
damages to rotors and to the pump.
