Circuit Description
8-1.
Data Write/Read System
Data read system
The RF signals, in eight upper and lower channels, read from the disc are processed from an optical block by the board
in the base drive. The processed signals are sent to the BRIDGE (IC700) on the BI-353 board (ODS-D280U)/BF-92
board (ODS-D280F) four upper and lower channels at the time using two SATA interfaces (Gen1/1.5 Gbps).
The BRIDGE (IC700) controls eight-channel read systems respectively to integrate them into one system so that the
transfer rate is maximum.
On the DI-353 board (ODS-D280U) of the USB model, the signal is sent from the BRIDGE (IC700) to the SATA-
USB3.0 bridge (IC800) using the SATA interface (Gen3/6 Gbps). The signal is then converted into the USB3.0 signal
and output from the USB connector (CN30).
On the BF-92 board (ODS-D280F) of the fibre channel model, a signal is sent through the PCIe switch (IC2000) from
the BRIDGE (IC700) to the FC controller (IC1000), controlled by CPU (IC3000), using the PCIe interface (Gen1 2.5
Gbps x 4 lanes). The signal output from this FC controller is photo-converted using the optical module (SFP+) (CN1000)
and output to the host.
Data write system
On the BI-353 board (ODS-D280U) of the USB model, the write signal input from the host to the USB connector (CN30)
on the BI-353 board is converted into the SATA interface (Gen3/6 Gbps) signal using the USB3.0-SATA bridge (IC800)
and sent to the BRIDGE (IC700).
On the BF-92 board (ODS-D280F) of the fibre channel model, the write signal input from the host to the optical module
(SFP+) on the BF-92 board is converted into the PCIe interface (Gen1/2.5 Gbps x 4 lanes) signal using the FC controller
(IC1000) controlled by CPU (IC3000). The write signal is then passed through the PCIe switch (IC2000) and sent to
the BRIDGE (IC700).
The BRIDGE (IC700) assigns four-channel write systems for control respectively so that the transfer rate is maximum.
The assigned write signals are sent to a base drive (two upper and lower channels) at a time using two SATA interface
(Gen1 1.5 Gbps) signal. The signals in four channels (two upper and lower channels) are processed by the board in the
base drive, sent to the optical block according to the write system corresponding to each medium, and written in the
disc. At that time, the verifying processing of the signals recorded in the disc is performed in parallel using the remaining
four channels (two channels each for upper and lower).
