Electric Power Steering System
!
Warning
If the engine is turned off or cuts out while the vehicle is
travelling the power steering system will not work and steering
will become harder.
The electric power steering system provides additional steering
force to reduce the driver effort required to turn the wheel
particularly whilst parking.
When the vehicle speed increases the assisted power steering
force is reduced. The system is operated by an electric motor
therefore do not continually turn the steering wheel while
stationary.
When turning the steering wheel too fast, you will hear the
sound of friction, this is normal rather than a failure, if necessary,
consult Dongfeng authorised service outlets for inspection.
When the engine is running and the electric power steering
system EPS warning light flashes, this indicates the steering
system is not working properly and the vehicle should be
examined by an authorised DFSK service centre.
Braking System
The braking process is through brake and tyre friction with the
ground which reduces the speed.
If the vehicle isn’t used for an extended period, some surface
corrosion may build up on the friction surfaces. This may cause
noise when the brakes are applied for the first time and should
stop after a few applications of the brakes. If the noise persists
take the vehicle to your nearest DFSK Service Centre.
To avoid affecting the pedal travel, do not lay a thick carpet
under the brake pedal.
Vacuum assisted braking
The brake booster uses the vacuum of the engine to assist
braking. If the engine is stalled or the drive belt is broken, you
can still stop the vehicle with the brake pedal pressed down, but
you will require extra force on the pedal and there will be an
increase in the braking distance.
If the vehicle is moving, with the engine off, the auxiliary brake
will not work, and the braking becomes more difficult.
Note
Continuous braking may result in increased brake pedal force
required when the vehicle is driving in high altitudes.
!
Warning
Do not allow the vehicle to coast when the engine is switched
off.
