Security Mode:
There are three types for security
mode (
WPA-Personal
,
WPA2-Personal
, or
WPA2-Personal Mixed
).
WPA-Personal
is the older standard; select this option if the wireless clients that will be
used with the wireless access point only support the older standard.
WPA2-Personal
is the newer and stronger security standard, the wireless access point
associates only with wireless client devices that are support WPA2 security.
WPA2-Personal Mixed
for the wireless access point tries WPA2 first, but falls back to WPA if
the wireless client device only supports WPA.
WPA Cipher:
Select the encryption algorithm used to
secure the data communication.
TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol):
that is
provides per-packet key generation and is based on WEP.
AES (Advanced Encryption Standard):
that is provides a very secure block based
encryption.
TKIP and AES:
the device negotiates the cipher type with the wireless client, and uses AES
when available.
Pre-Shared Key:
The Pre-shared key is
entered as a pass-phrase of up to 63
alphanumeric characters in ASCII format at both ends of the wireless connection (wireless
access point and wireless client devices). For proper security it may needs to be of ample
length and should not be commonly known phrase.
Key Update Interval:
Specify how often the
wireless key should be renegotiated.
WPA/WPA2-Enterprise:
Select “
WPA/WPA2-Enterprise
” means the wireless client device requires
to configuration use an external
RADIUS server for authentication
through EAP (Extensible
Authentication Protocol), the
wireless client devices need to
be configured with the same
authentication and credentials in
order to connect the wireless
access point.
