Operating the Digital Display
1. To activate the Digital Display, press the ON/OFF button and
hold for 2 seconds. The display will be set to zero and the default
will be set to Fractional Inch. (Fig. 57)
2. To choose the desired mode of measurement (fractional inch,
decimal inch, mm), press the INCH/MM button. The default
measurement is fractional inch.
3. To choose the width, press the ZERO button until the desired
measurement appears.
4. To clear the Digital Display, press the ZERO button for more
than 3 seconds. The previous measurement unit will be kept.
5. To deactivate the Digital Display, press the ON/OFF button for
more than 3 seconds. The device will reset to default mode.
6. Sleep Mode: If no operation is detected after thirty minutes, the
device will enter SLEEP mode. Pressing ANY buttons or
activating the sensor will awaken the device without changing
the current measurement. The device will deactivate to OFF
mode after 3 hours in SLEEP mode.
NOTE: Digital display works best on the right hand side of the
blade.
ERROR MESSAGES
1. Err 1 (or Err L): left sensor not working (cannot read from left
sensor when right sensor is reading)
2. Err 2 (or Err R): right sensor not working (cannot read from right
sensor when left sensor is reading)
3. Err 4 (or Err): inconsistency of readings (can read from sensors
but inconsistency or not the correct sequence)
4. Err 5 (or count): maximum count reached (2000mm or
99.999inch)
Ripping
RIPPING is known as cutting a piece of wood with the grain, or
lengthwise. This is done using the rip fence. Activate the Digital
Display and set to the desired WIDTH OF RIP. Before starting to
rip, be sure:
A. Rip Fence is parallel to sawblade.
B. Spreader is properly aligned with sawblade.
C. Antikickback pawls are functioning properly.
When ripping LONG BOARDS or LARGE PANELS, always use a
work support. A simple one can be made by clamping a piece of
plywood to a sawhorse (Fig. 58).
