Attaching Jigsaw Insert
The following Skil Jigsaw Models may be used with the
jigsaw insert: Models 4280, 4380, 4390, 4480, 4540 4580, &
4680.
BEFORE USING THE JIGSAW: Read the
instruction manual that came with the
jigsaw. If jigsaw is equipped with a laser system, make sure
that the laser is turned off. Direct Exposure to the laser
light can cause damage to your eyes.
From among the loose parts, locate the following hardware (Fig. 29).

1. Make sure the jigsaw switch is in the OFF position and the cord is
unplugged.
2. Install appropriate jigsaw blade per the jigsaw’s original
instruction manual.
3. Fasten jigsaw to bottom of insert
J1 using 2 flat brackets J6, 4
hex-head screws
J2, 4 washers J4 and 4 wing nuts J3 as
shown. Be sure the jigsaw is firmly installed and cannot work its
way loose (Fig. 29)
4. Attach retaining bracket
J5 onto bottom of insert using hex-head
screws
J2, washers J4 and wing nuts J3 as shown. (Fig. 29)
5. Lift the red latch lever Y located at front of the wing opening. The
jigsaw insert may be installed in the right or left wing.
6. Slip tabs X on the edge of insert
J1 into rear of wing opening
(Fig. 30).
7. Lower the front edge of insert into wing and lower the red latch
lever Y (Fig. 31).
8. Lock the jigsaw switch to the ON position.
9. If the jigsaw is equipped with a laser, make sure the laser is turned off.
10. Make sure the main table saw power switch is in the Off position.
11. Insert the router electrical plug into the accessory power outlet.
12. See the section on “Operation of the Accessory Power Outlet.
13. Lower the saw blade below the table before operating the jigsaw.
14. Operate the jigsaw in accordance with the sections entitled
“Jigsaw Safety” and “Operation of a Jigsaw with the Jigsaw
Insert” in this manual.
