Using the
Tester
USB Thumb Drive
Cirris has supplied you with an external storage device, commonly referred to as a thumb drive.
All 1100R+ testers released after August 1
st
, 2008 are equipped with USB ports. If your 1100R+
was released at an earlier date, contact your Cirris representative for upgrade information.
The thumb drive allows you to do the following:
Backup test programs
Copy test programs between 1100 testers
Copy test programs between the tester and a PC
Custom File Names for Wirelists
When you copy test programs to your PC via thumb drive, you can rename your wirelists with
custom file names and then copy them back to the tester.
How file names function
If you copy wirelists to the tester from
a thumb drive, custom file names
longer than eight characters will be
truncated. The first six characters will
display followed by a right arrow and a
number. For this reason, Cirris
recommends keeping custom file
names to eight characters or less.
To view custom file names up to 16
characters, you can compress your
files with Cirris’ compression utility;
see
1100 File Compression Utility
on page 65.
File names MUST be followed by
dot
(.) WIR
for the test program to appear
in the tester.
If you choose not to rename a wirelist
that is copied to your PC, the file name
will be based on the memory location
you saved it in. For example, a test
program saved in memory location 1
will be named ~MEM001.WIR;
in
memory location 2 it will be
~MEM002.WIR and so on. In the
tester, the name will again appear as
the cable signature in the memory
location that the file name indicates on
the PC.
In the tester, custom file names will no
longer be in a memory location. They
will display above the list of memory
locations.
