Expansion of Basic System with External
You can expand the programmable controllers by using S5-1OOU external
modules. If you install
S5-1 OOU external
modules, mount the controller,
bus units, and interface module on a 35-mm
standard mounting rail and connect them to each other via the ribbon cables of the bus units. Each
bus unit has room available for two
modules.

Assembling a Tier
To
expand a basic system with external
modules, you need the following parts for each subunit:

. Standard mounting rail
Mount the first module on the far left
end of the standard mounting rail and then add the other
modules to the right of the first module.
