Data type - Endianness
Use the drop-down list to determine how the RTU interprets the data of counters and
analog values read by the sensor.
The RTU always stores the two bytes of a word in the Big Endian format according to the
Modbus specification.
–
Example:
The two bytes of a word are numbered as follows: | 1 | 0 |
The higher byte 1 is stored first (Big Endian).
The following options are available:
–
Signed 16-bit value
–
Unsigned 16-bit value
–
Signed 32-bit value HW – LW
First High Word, then Low Word (Big Endian)
–
Signed 32-bit value LW – HW
First Low Word, then High Word (Little Endian)
–
Unsigned 32-bit value HW – LW
First High Word, then Low Word (Big Endian)
–
Unsigned 32-bit value LW – HW
First Low Word, then High Word (Little Endian)
–
Floating-point number (32-bit) HW – LW
First High Word, then Low Word (Big Endian)
–
Floating-point number (32-bit) LW – HW
First Low Word, then High Word (Little Endian)
