PLMN
This is where you enter the PLMN (Public Land Mobile Network) of the desired network
provider. You can obtain PLMN from your network provider or find it on the Internet.
PLMN is a worldwide unique identifier of mobile wireless networks consisting of:
–
MCC (Mobile Country Code)
–
MNC (Mobile Network Code) of the network provider
Example: PLMN 26202 (Vodafone in Germany) consists of MCC = 262 and MNC = 02.
–
Input 0:
The Home PLMN stored on the SIM card is used. This means the PLMN of the
provider with whom the employed SIM card is registered. Sufficient if roaming is not
enabled.
–
PLMN with enabled roaming
To speed up the dial-in to the network and save battery capacity when roaming is
enabled, enter the PLMN of network provider at the RTU's location. If you do not own
a PLMN, searching for a suitable network operator can take so long that cyclic
communication mode is no longer possible.
●
Allow roaming
Roaming is dialing in to the mobile wireless network of a third-party provider when the
mobile wireless network of your contracted mobile wireless network provider cannot be
reached.
–
Option enabled:
The RTU dials with highest priority into the mobile wireless network of the contracted
network provider set on the SIM card. If a dialing up the contract network fails, the
RTU dials up another mobile wireless network with which the network provider has a
roaming contract and whose access data is stored on the SIM card.
–
Option disabled (no roaming):
The RTU only dials up the mobile wireless network of the contract network provider
whose SIM card is plugged into the RTU.
●
Enable data service in the mobile wireless network
Enable this option if you want to send data. In this case, make sure that your mobile
wireless contract allows the use of IP-based data services.
If the option is disabled, the RTU can only receive and send SMS messages, receive time
of day frames and receive wake-up calls. The sending of data and e-mails is then only
possible via the LAN interface.
●
APN
When using data services, an access point is required as the gateway from the mobile
wireless network to the Internet. The APN (Access Point Name) is the name of the
gateway you receive from your mobile wireless network provider.
Enter the APN in the input box.
