To be able to modify configuration parameters, you need to change to the Privileged EXEC
mode.
Note
Default user "user" set in the factory
As of firmware version 2.1 the default user set in the factory "user" is no longer available when
the product ships.
If you update a device to the firmware V2.1 the default user set in the factory "user" is initially
still available. If you reset the device to the factory settings ("Restore Factory Defaults and
Restart") the default user set in the factory "user" is deleted.
You can create new users with the role "user".
Privileged EXEC mode
You change to this mode if you log in with the name "admin" or enter the command
enable
in User EXEC mode. There are two ways of exiting the Privileged EXEC mode:
1. The
exit
command logs you out; the Login Prompt prompt appears.
2. The
disable
command brings you back one level from the Privileged EXEC mode to the
User EXEC mode. (The
disable
command is not available in the User EXEC mode.)
Global configuration mode
In this mode, you can make basic configuration settings. In addition to this, you can also call
up modes for the configuration of special interfaces or functions, for example to configure a
VLAN. You change to this mode by entering
configure terminal
in the Privileged EXEC
mode. To exit this mode, enter
end
.
Other configuration modes
From the Global configuration mode, you can change to other configuration modes for special
tasks. These are either general configuration modes (for example line configuration, interface
configuration) or protocol-specific configuration modes (SNTP, NTP).
