Alphanumeric signs

Application program
An application program is one that is run by the user for a specific task, e.g. a word
processing program.
Backup copy
A backup copy is a copy of
files
on original floppy disk or of files you have created
yourself on a storage medium (e.g.
floppy disk
or
hard disk
). It is in your own interest to
make a backup copy of each
original disk
and to work with this backup only.
If you accidentally damage a bakup disk, you will still have the original disk from which
you can make another backup copy. If you were to damage an original disk and had no
backup, you would have to obtain a new original disk.
Bit
A bit is the smallest unit of information in a computer and can be in one of two states: 0
or 1.
Blanking
To increase the service life of your
monitor
, the screen can be blanked automatically if
there is no screen output for 10 minutes. This facility can be set via the
configuration
menu
or using special
programs
.

Byte
A byte comprises eight
bits
. As each bit can assume two states, a byte can assume
256 different states.
